Acts 3

the king version

Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour. And a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple, which is called Beautiful, to ask alms from those who[1] entered into the temple, who, seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, asked for[2] alms. And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, “Look on us.”And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something from[3] them.

Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I have none; but such as I have, I give you[4]: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.”And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. And leaping up, he stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking and leaping and praising God.And all the people saw him walking and praising God, 10 And they knew that it was he who[5] sat for alms at the Beautiful gate of the temple; and they were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened unto him.

11 And as the lame man who[6] was healed held Peter and John, all the people ran together unto them in the porch that is called Solomon's, greatly wondering. 12 And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, “You[7] men of Israel, why do you[8] marvel at this? Or why do you look so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk?

13 The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, has[9] glorified His Son Jesus, whom you[10] delivered up, and denied Him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let Him go. 14 But you[11] denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you, 15 and killed the Prince of life, whom God has[12] raised from the dead; of which[13] we are witnesses.

16 And His name, through faith in His name, has[14] made this man strong, whom you[15] see and know. Yes, the faith which is by Him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.

17 And now, brethren, I know[16] that through ignorance you[17] did it, as did also your rulers. 18 But those things, which God before had shown[18] by the mouth of all His prophets, that Christ should suffer, He has[19] so fulfilled. 19 You[20] repent, therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord. 20 And He shall send Jesus Christ, who[21] was before preached unto you, 21 whom the Heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God has[22] spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began. 22 For Moses truly said unto the fathers, ‘A Prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; Him shall you[23] hear in all things whatever[24] He shall say unto you. 23 And it shall come to pass, that every soul, who[25] will not hear that Prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people. [Deut. 18:15,18,19]

24 Yes, and all the prophets from Samuel and those who[26] follow after, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days. 25 You[27] are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, ‘And in your[28] seed shall all the families[29] of the earth be blessed.’ [Gen. 22:18; 26:4] 26 Unto you first, that[30] God, having raised up His Son Jesus, sent Him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.

The Curse of the Thief

I n the middle of audit week, our company accountants decided not to show up. As it turned out, they embezzled some money. What struck me the most was that the people who did it were not strangers; they were like mothers and aunts. We saw them almost every day, smile at them, laugh with them, and made plans together. As part of the management team, we ate out and had a friendly good time. It was heartbreaking to realize that the people in the news for some criminal activity had the same profile as those that I had warm and cuddly relations with. But loyalty goes up. My love for God supersedes any other relationship. I feel sad, yes, but I have no inkling to cover for them. If anything, I am upset because I was this close to them, and yet, clueless. My colleagues and I were mixed emotions. On one hand, we felt betrayed. The suspects were like family. We confided in them and planned activities with them in all sincerity and warmth. But maybe, just maybe, they were truthful and sincere...

Now I Know

#Prov7   I have seen    a young man lacking sense (v7) And behold, the woman meets him (v10)    and with bold face she says to him, (v13) "Come, let us take our fill of love till morning;     let us delight ourselves with love…" (v18)   All at once he follows her,     as an ox goes to the slaughter, or as a stag is caught fast     till an arrow pierces its liver; as a bird rushes into a snare;     he does not know that it will cost him his life. (v22-23)   Little did he know that…   Many a victim has she laid low,     and all her slain are a mighty throng. Her house is the way to Sheol,     going down to the chambers of death. (v.26-27)   We already know that sexual sins and immorality is for men and women, that though the Proverbs text was written to sym...

Our FATHER Can Easily Bless Us With A Baby

Then the LORD said, “I will surely return to you at this time next year, and your wife Sarah will have a son!” So she laughed to herself, saying, “After I am worn out and my master is old, will I now have this pleasure?” And the LORD asked Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Can I really bear a child when I am old?’ Is anything too difficult for the LORD? At the appointed time I will return to you—in about a year—and Sarah will have a son.”   [ Genesis 18:10, 12-14 BSB]   Nothing Is Too Hard For The Lord   This is the first time that God declared the statement “Nothing is too hard for the Lord,” and it involved having a baby. The Lord repeated Himself in this same way to Mary concerning Elizabeth’s pregnancy, and it was also about having a baby. (see Luke 1:36-38) It’s amazing to know that God measured His ability in this way – in the manner of granting babies. The Lord does not treat it lightly when we laugh at what He is able to do. For God ...

Being On God’s Side: The Nonpartisan Obedience And Submission of The Elect

My choice of candidate is only as good as when I vote. My vote is only as good as when it is counted. But when the tally comes, my choice is irrelevant – God  decides  who is king.   Every person is to be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God. (Romans 13: 1 NASB)   Our future does not depend on the person who gets elected, but on the One who sits on the Throne. If God has already decided, then why do I need to vote? This sounds like the clay who talks back to the Potter, “Why did you make me this way?” [see Romans 9:19-20] Let’s admit it: Though we vote according to our conscience, our conscience is formed by information made available to us. We can only know so much about a candidate, but God knows all things. In choosing, our sense of compatibility and personal preference are at work. We like a certain candidate because we feel that we like something about them, or w...

Worldwide Cleansing

And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born to them, 2 that the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. 3 And the Lord said, “My Spirit will not always strive with man, for that he is also flesh; yet his days will be a hundred and twenty (120) years.”  4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men, and they bore children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. 5 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 6 And it regretted the Lord that He had made man on the earth, and it grieved Him at His heart. 7 And the Lord said, “ I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and th...

John 4

the king version   Therefore, when the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John, 2  (though Jesus Himself baptized not, but His disciples),  3  He left Judea and departed again into Galilee, 4  and He must and needs # to go through Samaria.  5  Then He comes # to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. 6  Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus, therefore, being wearied with His journey, sat thus on the well; and it was about the sixth (6 th ) hour.  7  There comes # a woman of Samaria to draw water. Jesus says # to her,  “Give Me some to drink.”  8  (For His disciples had gone away to the city to buy meat.) [1]   9  Then says # the woman of Samaria to Him, “How is it that You, being a Jew, ask to drink from me, who is a woman of Samaria?” For the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans....

Bishopric and Episkopé: The Ministry of Visitation

The KJV word is bishoprick , which is now archaic in spelling. Most Bible translators didn’t use the modern spelling ‘ bishopric,’ and that, for a good reason.   #Acts1v20 For it is written in the book of Psalms: “Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell in it.”, and, “His bishopric, let another take.”   A quick google search shows that bishopric means: the office or rank of a bishop. ·      a district under a bishop's control; a diocese.   But looking closely at the Greek word, episkopé, reveals a deeper meaning: a visiting, an overseeing [Strong's].   Here's the kicker: bishopric k is not a desk job; it's fieldwork.   An excellent, Spirit-filled bishop or pastor performs the act of visitation. How does one effectively "oversee" a flock? By being with them, by being among them. When God calls one to be a pastor of a people, the expectation is not like that of a manager who stays in the offic...

Genesis 14

And it came to pass in the days of Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of nations, 2  that these made war with Bera king of Sodom, and with Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, and Shemeber king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela, which is Zoar. 3  All these were joined together in the vale of Siddim, which is the salt sea. 4  Twelve years they served Chedorlaomer, and in the thirteenth year they rebelled. 5  And in the fourteenth year came Chedorlaomer, and the kings that were with him, and struck the Rephaims in Ashteroth Karnaim, and the Zuzims in Ham, and the Emins in Shaveh Kiriathaim, 6  and the Horites in their mount Seir, to Elparan, which is by the wilderness. 7  And they returned, and came to Enmishpat, which is Kadesh, and struck all the country of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites, that dwelt in Hazezontamar. 8  And there went out the king of Sodom, and the king of Gomorrah,...

I Am Different, and so are My Gifts

Job 39:13-19 The ostrich flaps her wings futilely— all those beautiful feathers, but useless! She lays her eggs on the hard ground, leaves them there in the dirt, exposed to the weather, Not caring that they might get stepped on and cracked or trampled by some wild animal. She’s negligent with her young, as if they weren’t even hers. She cares nothing about anything. She wasn’t created very smart, that’s for sure, wasn’t given her share of good sense. But when she runs, oh, how she runs, laughing, leaving horse and rider in the dust. (Message) My loving Father is holy, righteous and just in all of His ways. In His manifold wisdom (that's beyond human comprehension!) He decided in eternity past that I'll be with this set of characteristics for a purpose. Could it be that I have wings to somehow classify me among birds? And in this crowd of birds, God opened my eyes to see just how different I am. Can it be possible that the Lord may have classified some as ...
