Genesis 7

And the Lord said to Noah,

“Come - you and all your house - into the ark, for I have seen you righteous before Me in this generation. 2 Of every clean beast, you must take with you by sevens, the male and its female; and of beasts that are not clean by twos, the male and its female. 3 Of fowls of the air also by sevens, the male and its female, to keep their seed alive upon the face of all the earth. 4 For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty (40) days and forty (40) nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth.”

5 And Noah did according to all that the Lord commanded him.

.6 And Noah was six hundred (600) years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth. 7 And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives with him, into the ark, because of the waters of the flood. 8 Of clean beasts, and of beasts that are not clean, and of fowls, and of everything that creeps upon the earth, 9 they went in two by two to Noah into the ark, the male and the female, as God had commanded Noah. 10 And it came to pass after seven days, that the waters of the flood were upon the earth.

11 In the six hundredth (600th) year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth (17th) day of the month, that same day, all the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. 12 And the rain was upon the earth forty (40) days and forty (40) nights.

13 In that very same day, Noah entered, with Shem, Ham, and Japheth - the sons of Noah, and Noah's wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, into the ark. 14 They, and every beast after its kind, and all the cattle after their kind, and every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth after its kind, and every fowl after its kind, every bird of every sort. 15 And they went in to Noah into the ark, two by two of all flesh, in which has the breath of life. 16 And they that came in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him. And the Lord shut him in.

17 And the flood was forty (40) days upon the earth; and the waters increased, and bore up the ark, and it was lifted up above the earth. 18 And the waters prevailed, and were increased greatly upon the earth, and the ark went upon the face of the waters. 19 And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth, and all the high hills, that were under the whole heaven, were covered. 20 Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail, and the mountains were covered. 21 And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, of every fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth, and every man. 22 All in whose nostrils had the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land, died. 23 And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, every man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven, and they were destroyed from the earth. And only Noah remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark.

24 And the waters prevailed upon the earth a hundred and fifty (150) days.

The Curse of the Thief

I n the middle of audit week, our company accountants decided not to show up. As it turned out, they embezzled some money. What struck me the most was that the people who did it were not strangers; they were like mothers and aunts. We saw them almost every day, smile at them, laugh with them, and made plans together. As part of the management team, we ate out and had a friendly good time. It was heartbreaking to realize that the people in the news for some criminal activity had the same profile as those that I had warm and cuddly relations with. But loyalty goes up. My love for God supersedes any other relationship. I feel sad, yes, but I have no inkling to cover for them. If anything, I am upset because I was this close to them, and yet, clueless. My colleagues and I were mixed emotions. On one hand, we felt betrayed. The suspects were like family. We confided in them and planned activities with them in all sincerity and warmth. But maybe, just maybe, they were truthful and sincere...

Bishopric and Episkopé: The Ministry of Visitation

The KJV word is bishoprick , which is now archaic in spelling. Most Bible translators didn’t use the modern spelling ‘ bishopric,’ and that, for a good reason.   #Acts1v20 For it is written in the book of Psalms: “Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell in it.”, and, “His bishopric, let another take.”   A quick google search shows that bishopric means: the office or rank of a bishop. ·      a district under a bishop's control; a diocese.   But looking closely at the Greek word, episkopé, reveals a deeper meaning: a visiting, an overseeing [Strong's].   Here's the kicker: bishopric k is not a desk job; it's fieldwork.   An excellent, Spirit-filled bishop or pastor performs the act of visitation. How does one effectively "oversee" a flock? By being with them, by being among them. When God calls one to be a pastor of a people, the expectation is not like that of a manager who stays in the offic...

Death and Destruction

are never satisfied, and neither are human eyes.  (Proverbs 27:20 NIV ) People will never stop dying and being destroyed, and they will never stop wanting more than they have. (NCV) Share your burbles here. Image courtesy of Victor Habbick at FreeDigitalPhotos.net

The Goal of Bible Reading

I diligently read the Bible  to know how to come to Jesus. John 5:39-40 You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me,   yet you refuse to come to me to have life. (NIV) Share your burbles here. Image courtesy of Lightstock .

The Ministry

Is Received, Not Assumed. Hebrews 8:6 But the ministry Jesus has received is as superior to theirs as the covenant of which he is mediator is superior to the old one, and it is founded on better promises. Even our Lord Jesus received it from the Father. The Ministry is given, not taken. I will wait for my turn.

As for me

far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by failing to pray and teach the way that is good and right.  (1 Samuel 12:23) Share your burbles here. Images courtesy of ChristArt .

Guided, Advised, and Watched Over

I will let the Lord guide me along the best pathway for my life. I will heed His advice, and feel safe, knowing that God is watching over me with a loving eye. (Psalm 32:8) The LORD says, "I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you. (NLT) I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you. (NIV) Share your burbles here. Image courtesy of Lightstock .

God is working in me

for me to desire and perform His will,  which is my destiny, for His glory. Philippians 2:13 For it is God who is working in you, enabling you both to desire and to work out His good purpose. (HCSB) It is God who produces in you the desires and actions that please him. (GW) God is working in you to make you willing and able to obey him. (CEV) for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose. (NIV) because God is working in you to help you want to do and be able to do what pleases him. (NCV) -=w=- The Holy Spirit is a true gentleman. He first inspires me to do His will, and then He empowers me to accomplish it. What a sweet deal! He does not force himself, He makes me want to do His will! As long as I am doing the will of God, I will always end up victorious. Come hell or high water, I will come out on top for God's glory!  When I persevere to do the will of God, I become unstoppable...

Encouragement In Death

I do not grieve like those who have no hope. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18   I believe that: 1) Jesus died and rose again 2) God will bring with Jesus those who have died in Him 3) Jesus will come back 4) the dead in Christ will rise first 5) then those living for the Lord will experience Rapture And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died. We tell you this directly from the Lord: We who are still living when the Lord returns will not meet him ahead of those who have died. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the Christians who have died will rise from their graves. Then, together with t...

The Battle For A Baby

There is no question that God wants every married couple to have a baby. Let there be no doubt about it; it is God’s will for you to have a baby.   By and by, these timeless truths get challenged as the months and years go by and we still don’t have a baby. After some years into our married lives, we begin to ask, “Why are we not pregnant yet?” Our hearts and minds begin to wonder and wander. We are then made aware of some serious information like: - This auntie never had a baby - This cousin had a miscarriage - This one has a cyst and/or myoma…   And the list went on.   We then realize that we are related to a lot of family and relatives who have medical conditions that challenge reproductive health, fertility, and conception. In what seems to be a sad fate, we share a similar genetic weakness.   We begin to worry; we start to doubt. But the good news is God’s promises are not dependent on our circumstances . It is entirely all on God’s ...
