Genesis 18

And the LORD appeared to him in the plains of Mamre, as he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day.

And he lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, three men stood by him. And when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground and said, “My Lord, if now I have found favor in your sight, pass not away, I pray you, from your servant. Let a little water, I pray you, be fetched, and wash your feet and rest yourselves under the tree; and I will fetch a morsel of bread and you comfort your hearts. After that, you may pass on, for therefore you have come to your servant.”

And they said, “Do so, as you have said.”

And Abraham hastened into the tent to Sarah, and said, “Make ready quickly three measures of fine meal, knead it, and make cakes upon the hearth.”

And Abraham ran to the herd and fetched a calf, tender and good, and gave it to a young man, and he hastened to have it dressed. And he took butter and milk and the calf which he had dressed, and set it before them; and he stood by them under the tree, and they ate.

And they said to him, “Where is Sarah your wife?”

And he said, “Behold, in the tent.”

10 And He said,

“I will certainly return to you according to the time of life; and behold, Sarah your wife will have a son.”

And Sarah heard it from the tent door, which was behind him. 11 Now Abraham and Sarah were old and well stricken in age, and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women. 12 Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, “After I am worn out and old will I have pleasure, and my lord being old, also?”

13 And the LORD said to Abraham,

“Why did Sarah laugh, saying, ‘Will I indeed bear a child, who, myself, have become so old’? 14 Is anything too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed, I will return to you, according to the time of life, and Sarah will have a son.”

15 Then Sarah denied, saying, “I did not laugh,” for she was afraid. And He said,

“No, but you did laugh.”

16 And the men rose up from there, and looked toward Sodom; and Abraham went with them to bring them on the way. 17 And the LORD said,

“Will I hide from Abraham that thing which I do, 18 seeing that Abraham will surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth will be blessed in him? 19 For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they will keep the way of the LORD  to do justice and judgment, that the LORD  may bring upon Abraham that which He has spoken of him.”

20 And the LORD said,

“Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous, 21 I will go down now and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which has come to Me; and if not, I will know.”

22 And the men turned their faces from there, and went toward Sodom; but Abraham stood yet before the LORD. 23 And Abraham drew near and said, “Will You also destroy the righteous with the wicked? 24 Perhaps there are fifty (50) righteous within the city; will You also destroy and not spare the place for the fifty (50) righteous that are therein? 25 That be far from You to do in this manner — to slay the righteous with the wicked; and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from You! Will not the Judge of all the earth do right?”

26 And the LORD said,

“If I find in Sodom fifty (50) righteous within the city, then I will spare all of the place for their sakes.”

27 And Abraham answered and said, “Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak to the Lord, I, who am but dust and ashes. 28 Perhaps there will lack five of the fifty righteous; will You destroy all the city for lack of five?” And He said,

“If I find there forty and five (45), I will not destroy it.”

29 And he spoke to Him yet again and said, “Perhaps there will be forty (40) found there?” And He said,

“I will not do it for forty’s (40) sake.”

30 And he said to Him, “Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak: Perhaps there will thirty (30) be found there.” And He said,

“I will not do it if I find thirty (30) there.”

31 And he said, “Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak to the Lord: Perhaps there will be twenty (20) found there.” And He said,

“I will not destroy it for twenty’s (20) sake.”

32 And he said, “Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak yet but this once: Perhaps ten (10) will be found there.” And He said,

“I will not destroy it for ten’s (10) sake.”

33 And the LORD went His way, as soon as He had finished communing with Abraham; and Abraham returned to his place.

The Curse of the Thief

I n the middle of audit week, our company accountants decided not to show up. As it turned out, they embezzled some money. What struck me the most was that the people who did it were not strangers; they were like mothers and aunts. We saw them almost every day, smile at them, laugh with them, and made plans together. As part of the management team, we ate out and had a friendly good time. It was heartbreaking to realize that the people in the news for some criminal activity had the same profile as those that I had warm and cuddly relations with. But loyalty goes up. My love for God supersedes any other relationship. I feel sad, yes, but I have no inkling to cover for them. If anything, I am upset because I was this close to them, and yet, clueless. My colleagues and I were mixed emotions. On one hand, we felt betrayed. The suspects were like family. We confided in them and planned activities with them in all sincerity and warmth. But maybe, just maybe, they were truthful and sincere...

There's a lot on my plate, and I've bitten off more than I could chew

#Josh10v12  On the day the LORD gave the Israelites victory over the Amorites, Joshua prayed to the LORD in front of all the people of Israel. He said, “Let the sun stand still over Gibeon, and the moon over the valley of Aijalon." NLT But why? Why delay the sun from setting? v.13 So the sun stood still and the moon stayed in place until the nation of Israel had defeated its enemies. NLT Until the work is done… When I have a lot of things to do and I don't know how to start, or it looks too huge for me - then, as always, I would need more grace and supernatural help. In v.9, Joshua traveled all night. (More coffee, please!) Sometimes, it's just too exhausting. But the Lord comes and breaks it down for us (v.10). But still, I have to do my part: continue to stretch my faith and flex my muscles. In v.11, the heaven-sent-hail did more work than the Israelites did with their efforts. God is just so gracious and kind. He carries us… The Hebrew for Amorites could mean 'm...

My God Prevents Infertility and Miscarriages

Worship and serve only the Eternal your God, and I will bless you with an ample supply of wholesome food and clean water. I will take away all sickness from you, prevent miscarriages and barrenness, and give you long, productive lives. (Exodus 23:25-26 Voice) Image courtesy of Pixabay Abba Father, Thank you, for healing us of any sickness. Thank you for helping my wife conceive by making us both fertile, and for preventing my wife in having any miscarriages. Oh my Lord, there are a lot of risks involved, a lot of life-threatening issues, but you will deliver us from them all. I worship you with all that I am. I serve you with all of my being. Please be delighted to add another worshiper in this family - a child. Bless us, o Lord, with our own baby. May we enjoy a long and productive life of raising a child from the womb you have blessed!

Bishopric and Episkopé: The Ministry of Visitation

The KJV word is bishoprick , which is now archaic in spelling. Most Bible translators didn’t use the modern spelling ‘ bishopric,’ and that, for a good reason.   #Acts1v20 For it is written in the book of Psalms: “Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell in it.”, and, “His bishopric, let another take.”   A quick google search shows that bishopric means: the office or rank of a bishop. ·      a district under a bishop's control; a diocese.   But looking closely at the Greek word, episkopé, reveals a deeper meaning: a visiting, an overseeing [Strong's].   Here's the kicker: bishopric k is not a desk job; it's fieldwork.   An excellent, Spirit-filled bishop or pastor performs the act of visitation. How does one effectively "oversee" a flock? By being with them, by being among them. When God calls one to be a pastor of a people, the expectation is not like that of a manager who stays in the offic...

Blood or Wine

The Lord God who turned water into blood is the same Savior who turned water into wine. God's first act of public judgment against Egypt was turning water into blood. But our Lord Jesus' first miracle on record was turning water into wine, and it's about blessing a social event. How do I want my Miracle Worker to come to me, with a sword or with some sweets?  I'd rather run to the Father of grace and mercy, live a holy life, and receive His bountiful blessings for me.

God's Suddenly Is Greater!

The storms of life can come suddenly . But no worries! When our Lord Jesus speaks the Word, these storms will suddenly be calm. Be it a COVID surge, a financial fallout, or both and more, our Savior can save us from them all. “Suddenly, a fierce storm struck the lake, with waves breaking into the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke him up, shouting, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!” Jesus responded,  “Why are you afraid? You have so little faith!”  Then he got up and rebuked the wind and waves, and suddenly there was a great calm.” [Matthew 8:24-26 NLT]

Thoughts on Non-Christian Copywriting

Christ Jesus is the First Word and the Living Word, and He has the last say. I choose to write my life story in Him. The godly way to be skilled is to be filled with the Spirit.   See, I have called by name ( put your name here ) . And I have filled ( him/her ) with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship… (Exo 31:2-3)   I sit in the counsel of the godly.  (Psa 1:1) I don’t immerse myself in darkness, and then use their wisdom to craft my own. I trust the Lord God that He is the Source.   If there is no godly person to emulate, then let me be the first one that Christ Jesus will raise up for others to copy and exemplify. Be a role model in God's eyes, His standard, and His par of excellence.   Know then that God is always the First One. Remember, Christ Jesus is the Living Word. And because this matter of interest on copywriting is about words, then I put my trust and devot...

One Life One Death

I only live once, and die once.  And then, my life is evaluated. Hebrews 9:27 Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment (NIV) Contrary to traditional religious beliefs, we don't reincarnate. We only live once, and die once. And there will be a day of reckoning. All that will happen in the afterlife is decided while we are still alive. We immediately face the consequences of our earthly decisions when we die. If one is living for God, then that life will continue to be with God. If one is living away from God, then that's where that person will be in the afterlife - an eternity away from God. No amount of prayers from family, friends and opportunists can alter that consequence. The dead loved one has sealed his or her fate. Heaven is a "no wang-wang zone". True justice is only with God. If one can buy their way in to heaven, then righteousness is useless. Share your burbles here. ...

Our FATHER Helps Us To Have A Baby

And Adam had relations with his wife Eve, and she conceived and gave birth to Cain. “With the help of the LORD I have brought forth a man,” she said. [Genesis 4:1 BSB]     The first mother, Eve, recognized that the creation of another human being inside her body was God's work, a moment of God's help. We also recognize that we can’t make this happen; it has got to be God’s help.    On our part, we ask for help. Just because we need help doesn’t mean it’s automatic – that help will just come. He who needs help asks for help. …P R A Y E R…    Father God,     May it be that simple for us, too. My spouse and I will be intimate, and we will just conceive. With Your help, oh Lord, we will have a baby. With Your help, oh Lord, we will receive Your baby promise. Just as You have done with other married couples, please do so in our bodies. Please also create this baby-life in us.    Only You can help us. Only You ca...
