My Baby Promise: God Will Do This For Me

(Luke 1:25) The Lord has done this for me," she said. "In these days he has shown his favor and taken away my disgrace among the people. (NIV)

Dear Lord,

You did it for Elizabeth and Zechariah, you can also do it for my wife and I. Show us Your favor, oh Lord, and cause my wife to conceive.

Oh my Lord, we don't want to be swayed by public opinion, but even so, the people get to talk about us. They make our childlessness a joke, and it hurts!

So Lord, please, just as You helped Elizabeth and Zechariah of old, help us also, today. Please take away this reproach of childlessness.
But we won't let this be the motivation of our faith. We focus on your kindness and favor instead.
Yes, Lord, I am convinced, knowing Your personality and character, You really want to do this for us! You are so gracious and kind.

And people will know that it was You, only You. Not the doctors, not medicine, but You - You will do this for us!

Be glorified in giving us this testimony of having our own child. May we add to the glory of Your Name as we hold our baby in our hands...

I have lived with the disgrace of being barren for all these years. Now God has looked on me with favor. When I go out in public with my baby, I will not be disgraced any longer. (Voice)

The Curse of the Thief

I n the middle of audit week, our company accountants decided not to show up. As it turned out, they embezzled some money. What struck me the most was that the people who did it were not strangers; they were like mothers and aunts. We saw them almost every day, smile at them, laugh with them, and made plans together. As part of the management team, we ate out and had a friendly good time. It was heartbreaking to realize that the people in the news for some criminal activity had the same profile as those that I had warm and cuddly relations with. But loyalty goes up. My love for God supersedes any other relationship. I feel sad, yes, but I have no inkling to cover for them. If anything, I am upset because I was this close to them, and yet, clueless. My colleagues and I were mixed emotions. On one hand, we felt betrayed. The suspects were like family. We confided in them and planned activities with them in all sincerity and warmth. But maybe, just maybe, they were truthful and sincere...

Encouragement In Death

I do not grieve like those who have no hope. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18   I believe that: 1) Jesus died and rose again 2) God will bring with Jesus those who have died in Him 3) Jesus will come back 4) the dead in Christ will rise first 5) then those living for the Lord will experience Rapture And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died. We tell you this directly from the Lord: We who are still living when the Lord returns will not meet him ahead of those who have died. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the Christians who have died will rise from their graves. Then, together with t...

As for me

far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by failing to pray and teach the way that is good and right.  (1 Samuel 12:23) Share your burbles here. Images courtesy of ChristArt .

The Goal of Bible Reading

I diligently read the Bible  to know how to come to Jesus. John 5:39-40 You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me,   yet you refuse to come to me to have life. (NIV) Share your burbles here. Image courtesy of Lightstock .

Bishopric and Episkopé: The Ministry of Visitation

The KJV word is bishoprick , which is now archaic in spelling. Most Bible translators didn’t use the modern spelling ‘ bishopric,’ and that, for a good reason.   #Acts1v20 For it is written in the book of Psalms: “Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell in it.”, and, “His bishopric, let another take.”   A quick google search shows that bishopric means: the office or rank of a bishop. ·      a district under a bishop's control; a diocese.   But looking closely at the Greek word, episkopé, reveals a deeper meaning: a visiting, an overseeing [Strong's].   Here's the kicker: bishopric k is not a desk job; it's fieldwork.   An excellent, Spirit-filled bishop or pastor performs the act of visitation. How does one effectively "oversee" a flock? By being with them, by being among them. When God calls one to be a pastor of a people, the expectation is not like that of a manager who stays in the offic...

God is working in me

for me to desire and perform His will,  which is my destiny, for His glory. Philippians 2:13 For it is God who is working in you, enabling you both to desire and to work out His good purpose. (HCSB) It is God who produces in you the desires and actions that please him. (GW) God is working in you to make you willing and able to obey him. (CEV) for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose. (NIV) because God is working in you to help you want to do and be able to do what pleases him. (NCV) -=w=- The Holy Spirit is a true gentleman. He first inspires me to do His will, and then He empowers me to accomplish it. What a sweet deal! He does not force himself, He makes me want to do His will! As long as I am doing the will of God, I will always end up victorious. Come hell or high water, I will come out on top for God's glory!  When I persevere to do the will of God, I become unstoppable...

Faith vs Godlessness: Re-Crucifying Jesus To Public Shame

It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age, if they fall away, to be brought back to repentance, because to their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace. (Hebrews 6:4-6 NIV)   I don't get it. How can a pastor become atheistic ? On the day I read this in my email, a lot of Scriptures came rushing into my heart. (I’ll try to sort most of them below.) I was bothered, and it seems that the only way to get peace about this is to confront it head on.   And so I prayed: I put on the helmet of salvation to protect my mind, to protect how I think. I put on the breastplate of righteousness to protect my heart, to protect how I feel. I put on the buckle of Truth to keep it all together... (Ephesians 6:14-17) I can't help but think that in the course of studyi...

Death and Destruction

are never satisfied, and neither are human eyes.  (Proverbs 27:20 NIV ) People will never stop dying and being destroyed, and they will never stop wanting more than they have. (NCV) Share your burbles here. Image courtesy of Victor Habbick at FreeDigitalPhotos.net

Our FATHER Grants Us A Baby To Teach

I've chosen him so that he will teach his sons and their families to follow the way of the Lord by doing what is right and good, so that I, the Lord, can do for Abraham what I promised. [Genesis 18:19 FBV]   The Lord does more than just fulfill His baby promise, He also plans ahead for these children and the generations afterward to be taught concerning the things of God. There is a proper way to worship Him, and that established structure is needed to be taught. The Sovereign Lord will always have His way. The God-given promise is not just for a baby, but to bless us entirely. The Lord can only accomplish this when we do our part to obey Him. God's wonderful covenant of blessings is a partnership with us; He can only complete His part when we have done our share of the promise. The parent is always God’s choice to teach their own kids. We lead by example. Our words of instruction lose their power when we don’t practice what we preach. God’s promises are condition...

Genesis 19

KJVx   And there came two angels to Sodom at even, and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom. And Lot, seeing them, rose up to meet them, and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground; 2  and he said, “Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant's house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early, and go on your ways.” And they said, “Nay, but we will abide in the street all night.” 3  And he pressed upon them greatly, and they turned in unto him, and entered into his house; and he made them a feast, and did bake unleavened bread, and they did eat. 4  But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter. 5  And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, “Where are the men which came in to thee this night? Bring them out unto us, that we may know them.”  6  And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door aft...
