My Baby Promise from Luke 1: God Hears Prayers for a Baby

But the angel reassured him, “Don’t fear, Zachariah. Your prayer has been heard. Elizabeth, your wife, will bear a son by you. You are to name him John. You’re going to leap like a gazelle for joy, and not only you—many will delight in his birth. (Luke 1:13-14 Message)

Dear Father,

You do not turn me away with my petition for a baby. You hear such kind of requests and You answer them! And because You do, I will not be afraid anymore.

My wife will conceive and give birth to our baby – the result of You answering our prayers.

This God-given baby will bring us joy and gladness, and as we testify about Your wonderful miraculous deeds, more and more people will rejoice in You, and with us.

Hallelujah! Glory be to God!

We have something to wait for. Our hopes will never be crushed. Our joy will be complete.

We will have a baby, and it’s all because You are good.

The Curse of the Thief

I n the middle of audit week, our company accountants decided not to show up. As it turned out, they embezzled some money. What struck me the most was that the people who did it were not strangers; they were like mothers and aunts. We saw them almost every day, smile at them, laugh with them, and made plans together. As part of the management team, we ate out and had a friendly good time. It was heartbreaking to realize that the people in the news for some criminal activity had the same profile as those that I had warm and cuddly relations with. But loyalty goes up. My love for God supersedes any other relationship. I feel sad, yes, but I have no inkling to cover for them. If anything, I am upset because I was this close to them, and yet, clueless. My colleagues and I were mixed emotions. On one hand, we felt betrayed. The suspects were like family. We confided in them and planned activities with them in all sincerity and warmth. But maybe, just maybe, they were truthful and sincere...

Bishopric and Episkopé: The Ministry of Visitation

The KJV word is bishoprick , which is now archaic in spelling. Most Bible translators didn’t use the modern spelling ‘ bishopric,’ and that, for a good reason.   #Acts1v20 For it is written in the book of Psalms: “Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell in it.”, and, “His bishopric, let another take.”   A quick google search shows that bishopric means: the office or rank of a bishop. ·      a district under a bishop's control; a diocese.   But looking closely at the Greek word, episkopé, reveals a deeper meaning: a visiting, an overseeing [Strong's].   Here's the kicker: bishopric k is not a desk job; it's fieldwork.   An excellent, Spirit-filled bishop or pastor performs the act of visitation. How does one effectively "oversee" a flock? By being with them, by being among them. When God calls one to be a pastor of a people, the expectation is not like that of a manager who stays in the offic...

My Baby Promise: God Will Do This For Me

(Luke 1:25) The Lord has done this for me," she said. "In these days he has shown his favor and taken away my disgrace among the people. (NIV) Dear Lord, You did it for Elizabeth and Zechariah, you can also do it for my wife and I. Show us Your favor, oh Lord, and cause my wife to conceive. Oh my Lord, we don't want to be swayed by public opinion, but even so, the people get to talk about us. They make our childlessness a joke, and it hurts! So Lord, please, just as You helped Elizabeth and Zechariah of old, help us also, today. Please take away this reproach of childlessness. But we won't let this be the motivation of our faith. We focus on your kindness and favor instead. Yes, Lord, I am convinced, knowing Your personality and character, You really want to do this for us! You are so gracious and kind. And people will know that it was You, only You. Not the doctors, not medicine, but You - You will do this for us! Be glorified in giving us this testimony o...

Genesis 17

And when Abram was ninety years old and nine (99), the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am the Almighty God. Walk before Me, and you be perfect. 2  And I will make My covenant between Me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly.” 3  And Abram fell on his face; and God talked with him, saying, 4  “As for Me, behold, My covenant is with you, and you will be a father of many nations. 5  Neither will your name be called Abram anymore, but your name will be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made you. 6  And I will make you exceedingly fruitful, and I will make nations of you, and kings will come out of you. 7  And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your seed after you in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God to you and to your seed after you. 8  And I will give to you and to your seed after you the land wherein you are a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possessi...

Genesis 7

And the Lord said to Noah, “Come - you and all your house - into the ark, for I have seen you righteous before Me in this generation. 2 Of every clean beast, you must take with you by sevens, the male and its female; and of beasts that are not clean by twos, the male and its female. 3 Of fowls of the air also by sevens, the male and its female, to keep their seed alive upon the face of all the earth. 4 For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty (40) days and forty (40) nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth.” 5 And Noah did according to all that the Lord commanded him. . 6 And Noah was six hundred (600) years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth. 7 And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives with him, into the ark, because of the waters of the flood. 8 Of clean beasts, and of beasts that are not clean, and of fowls, and of everything that creeps upon the earth...

The Christmas of Mangers and Feeding Boxes

A manger is a cattle's feeding box The cliché: Jesus was born in a manger. As a city boy, I find it cruel to know that someone has to give birth or be born in such gruesome conditions. I thought even homeless folks could go to a public hospital for that. But as it was, this happened to Joseph and Mary, and the baby boy Jesus. Background: The first census mandated everyone to go back to their hometowns for registration. Mary was already on her 9th month - on her 40th week, due for labor. And yet, they have got to go and obey the decree. I guess disobedience would be fatal. But don't pregnant women hurt themselves when they travel out for a long time? Either way was fatal. Mary just sat there, on a camel or a donkey, and she would feel those birth pains, and it was aggravated by the bumps on the way. It would have been hot by day, and cold at night. And still they went. How far was it then? How many straight hours or days did it take?   Each bump is a discomfort ...

Genesis 3

Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, “Yes, has God said, “You must not eat of every tree of the garden?”” 2 And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden, 3 but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, “You must not eat of it, neither must you touch it, lest you die.”” 4 And the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die; 5 for God does know that in the day you eat thereof, then your eyes will be opened, and you will be as gods, knowing good and evil.” 6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also to her husband with her; and he did eat. 7 And the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves apro...

Genesis 13

And Abram went up out of Egypt, he, and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the south. 2  And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold. 3  And he went on his journeys from the south even to Bethel, to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Hai, 4  to the place of the altar, which he had made    there at the first; and there Abram called on the name of the  Lord . 5  And Lot also, which went with Abram, had flocks, and herds, and tents. 6  And the land was not able to bear them, that they might dwell together; for their property and goods were great, so that they could not dwell together. 7  And there was strife between the herdsmen of Abram's cattle and the herdsmen of Lot's cattle; and the Canaanites and the Perizzites dwelled then in the land. 8  And Abram said to Lot, “Let there be no strife, I pray you, between me and you, and between my herdsmen and ...

Genesis 12

Now the Lord had said to Abram, “Get yourselves out of your country, and from your kindred, and from your father's house, to a land that I will show you. 2 And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great; and you will be a blessing. 3 And I will bless those that bless you, and curse anyone that curses you; and in you will all families of the earth be blessed.” 4 So Abram departed, as the Lord had spoken to him, and Lot went with him; and Abram was seventy and five (75) years old when he departed out of Haran. 5 And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother's son, and all their property and goods that they had gathered, and the persons that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came. 6 And Abram passed through the land to the place of Sichem, to the plain of Moreh. And the Canaanites was then in the land. 7 And the Lord appeared to Abram, and said, “To your s...
