The First Sons and Brothers

And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bore Cain, and said, “I have gotten a man from the Lord.” 2 And again, she bore his brother Abel.

And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground. 3 And in the process of time, it came to pass that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering to the Lord. 4 And Abel also, he brought of the firstborn of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the Lord had respect to Abel and to his offering. 5 But to Cain and to his offering He did not respect. And Cain was very angry, and his countenance fell.

6 And the Lord said to Cain,

“Why are you angry? And why is your countenance fallen?” 7 If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And to have you will be its desire, and you must rule over it.”

8 And Cain talked with Abel his brother. And it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and killed him.

9 And the Lord said to Cain,

“Where is Abel your brother?

And he said, “I do not know. Am I my brother's keeper?

10 And He said,

“What have you done? The voice of your brother's blood cries to Me from the ground. 11 And now you are cursed from the earth, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother's blood from your hand. 12 When you till the ground, from now on it will not yield to you its strength; a fugitive and a vagabond will you be in the earth.

13 And Cain said to the Lord, “My punishment is greater than I can bear. 14 Behold, You have driven me out this day from the face of the earth, and from Your face I will be hidden, and I will be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth. And it will come to pass, that anyone who finds me will kill me.”

15 And the Lord said to him,

“Therefore, whosoever kills Cain, vengeance will be taken on him sevenfold.”

And the Lord set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him. 16 And Cain went out from the presence of the Lord, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.

17 And Cain knew his wife, and she conceived, and bore Enoch. And he built a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch. 18 And to Enoch was born Irad, and Irad fathered Mehujael, and Mehujael fathered Methusael, and Methusael fathered Lamech.

19 And Lamech took to himself two wives: the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other Zillah. 20 And Adah bore Jabal; he was the father of such as dwell in tents, and of such as have cattle. 21 And his brother's name was Jubal; he was the father of all such as handle the harp and organ. 22 And Zillah, she also bore Tubalcain, an instructor of every artisan in brass and iron; and the sister of Tubalcain was Naamah.

23 And Lamech said to his wives,

“Adah and Zillah,

Hear my voice;

you wives of Lamech,

Heed my speech:

For I have killed a man to my wounding,

and a young man to my hurt.

24 If Cain will be avenged sevenfold,

truly Lamech seventy and sevenfold.”

25 And Adam knew his wife again; and she bore a son, and called his name Seth. “For God,” said she, “has appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain killed.” 26 And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos.

Then men began to call upon the name of the Lord.

The Curse of the Thief

I n the middle of audit week, our company accountants decided not to show up. As it turned out, they embezzled some money. What struck me the most was that the people who did it were not strangers; they were like mothers and aunts. We saw them almost every day, smile at them, laugh with them, and made plans together. As part of the management team, we ate out and had a friendly good time. It was heartbreaking to realize that the people in the news for some criminal activity had the same profile as those that I had warm and cuddly relations with. But loyalty goes up. My love for God supersedes any other relationship. I feel sad, yes, but I have no inkling to cover for them. If anything, I am upset because I was this close to them, and yet, clueless. My colleagues and I were mixed emotions. On one hand, we felt betrayed. The suspects were like family. We confided in them and planned activities with them in all sincerity and warmth. But maybe, just maybe, they were truthful and sincere...

Try Again in 2022

#Judg20v22 The men of Israel encouraged each other. So they again went out to fight, as they had done the first day.    So here we are now, by God’s grace, into 2022.

I Will Pray Until I Become Prayer Itself

I was reading a self-help book when I got to this part: " To write a book, become the book itself." [1] But then I remembered the verse:   " Though I love them, they stand accusing me like Satan for what I’ve never done. I will pray until I become prayer itself . " [Psalm 109:4 TPT]   By then, I realize, my reading is not self-helping me very much. I found myself spitting more bones than chewing meat.   What I needed was grace-help all along. Grace upon grace [John 1:16] The grace to say 'No' to sin. [Titus 2:12]   I will again attempt to read that book. But warn you, someone famous once said, "If you're too open-minded; your brains will fall out." [2]   I accept correction. I admit the need for self-discipline.   For God did not give us a spirit of timidity  or  cowardice  or  fear, but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of sound judgment  and  personal discipline [abilities that result in a calm, well-balan...

Bishopric and Episkopé: The Ministry of Visitation

The KJV word is bishoprick , which is now archaic in spelling. Most Bible translators didn’t use the modern spelling ‘ bishopric,’ and that, for a good reason.   #Acts1v20 For it is written in the book of Psalms: “Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell in it.”, and, “His bishopric, let another take.”   A quick google search shows that bishopric means: the office or rank of a bishop. ·      a district under a bishop's control; a diocese.   But looking closely at the Greek word, episkopé, reveals a deeper meaning: a visiting, an overseeing [Strong's].   Here's the kicker: bishopric k is not a desk job; it's fieldwork.   An excellent, Spirit-filled bishop or pastor performs the act of visitation. How does one effectively "oversee" a flock? By being with them, by being among them. When God calls one to be a pastor of a people, the expectation is not like that of a manager who stays in the offic...

The Lord Jesus is my first and foremost Pastor. HE is the Great Shepherd of my soul. HE then leads me to HIS assigned undershepherd for me - my church pastor

#TrainYourConscience  Heb13:17 Obey your spiritual leaders, and do what they say. Their work is to watch over your souls, and they are accountable to God. Give them reason to do this with joy and not with sorrow. That would certainly not be for your benefit. NLT I remain under his pastoral care. I submit to him as to the Lord. I am comforted by the thought of his rod and staff. How I treat him reflects my attitude towards God's leadership. Image by Free-Photos from Pixabay . .

Our FATHER Confirms His Baby Promise

But Abram replied, “O Lord GOD, what can You give me, since I remain childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?” Abram continued, “Behold, You have given me no offspring, so a servant in my household will be my heir.”   Then the word of the LORD came to Abram, saying, “This one will not be your heir, but one who comes from your own body will be your heir.” [ Genesis 15:2-4 BSB]   Right here and now, we remind ourselves again that having a baby is all dependent on God's grace and mercy. We cannot make any of this happen on our own. In this stage of Abram's life, he has no child, and no parental obligation. His nephew, Lot, had just parted ways from him. It could have been Lot as an heir apparent. But with Lot gone, Abram was then left with a non-relative, who was next in line to be an heir prospect.   Abram was willing to adopt Eliezer (or his son) and treat him as his own. Adoption, in itself, is good and godly. The whole Bible is ...

Our FATHER Can Easily Bless Us With A Baby

Then the LORD said, “I will surely return to you at this time next year, and your wife Sarah will have a son!” So she laughed to herself, saying, “After I am worn out and my master is old, will I now have this pleasure?” And the LORD asked Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Can I really bear a child when I am old?’ Is anything too difficult for the LORD? At the appointed time I will return to you—in about a year—and Sarah will have a son.”   [ Genesis 18:10, 12-14 BSB]   Nothing Is Too Hard For The Lord   This is the first time that God declared the statement “Nothing is too hard for the Lord,” and it involved having a baby. The Lord repeated Himself in this same way to Mary concerning Elizabeth’s pregnancy, and it was also about having a baby. (see Luke 1:36-38) It’s amazing to know that God measured His ability in this way – in the manner of granting babies. The Lord does not treat it lightly when we laugh at what He is able to do. For God ...

Our FATHER Prevents Infertility And Miscarriages

You are to worship the Lord your God, and He will bless your food and water. I will make sure none of you fall sick. No woman will have a miscarriage or be without children. I will make sure you live long lives. [ Exodus 23:25-26 FBV] A wonder of Worship: a God-given baby!   What incredible promises! God commits to doing the following: - Bless our food and water to abundance - Remove sicknesses - Prevent miscarriages - Every married woman to have their own baby   But these vows come with a call to action: To be in service to God. The word ‘worship’ in this text means ‘work’ and ‘serve.’ * So this is not your mediocre once-a-week, go-to-church Sunday worship. This is toiling for righteousness. It’s being a love slave to our kind and benevolent Master, Christ Jesus.   In what capacity did the Lord ask you to serve Him? It’s not our own terms or personal preferences, but God’s choice. [see 2 Kings 17:25-28] How do you express your love to the Lord ...

Start As Early As Now!

#1Ki20v22 The prophet came to the king of Israel and said, “ Go , strengthen yourself and prepare , and see what you do , for next year the king of Aram will come up against you.” [MEV]

Our FATHER Designed Us To Procreate

And God blessed them, saying, "Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the flying creatures of the sky, and over all the tame animals, and over all the wild animals of the earth, and over all the creatures that crawl on the earth. [Genesis 1:28 NHEB]     God blessed them and told them, “Reproduce, increase, and spread throughout the earth and control it; exercise authority over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and every creature that moves on the earth.” [Genesis 1:28 FBV]     A Pattern In Creation   In the beginning, God created and multiplied. The Lord had set the example by declaring things and speaking life into existence. We also follow this pattern: We speak life based on God’s Word. We confess Bible verses, and we repeat His truths as we agree with Him. We do our part, and God will do what only He can do.   Creation came about into existence with a spoken comm...
