Death and Destruction

are never satisfied, and neither are human eyes.  (Proverbs 27:20 NIV ) People will never stop dying and being destroyed, and they will never stop wanting more than they have. (NCV) Share your burbles here. Image courtesy of Victor Habbick at FreeDigitalPhotos.net

In Death and Beyond

My God is forever and ever. He leads me beyond death. Psalm 48:14 This God is our God forever and ever. He will lead us beyond death. (GWT) For that is what God is like. He is our God forever and ever, and he will guide us until we die.   (NLT) Then you can tell the next generation     detail by detail the story of God, Our God forever,     who guides us till the end of time. My Baby Promise: In Due time

Peninnah had children, but Hannah had none. (1 Samuel 1:2 NIV) Dear Father, for a long time now, I have been labeled as 'the one with no child.' In my family, peer group, and office, and even in church, almost all my batch mates have children, except my wife and I. So Father, only You can change this. But to Hannah he gave a double portion because he loved her, and the Lord had closed her womb. (1 Samuel 1:5 NIV) Receiving a double portion is fine and wonderful. But what good is it if I can’t enjoy it with my own child? Oh, dear Lord, please open my wife's womb. I am done asking why it is this way, but by Your grace, You have stretched my faith to ask you instead to open my wife's womb. Oh Lord, You are always good. There are things I don't fully understand, but it doesn't mean You have been unkind. Just because my wife has not been pregnant all this time doesn't mean You are unkind. But You have given us this promise, not to tease us, but for You to f...

The Curse of the Thief

I n the middle of audit week, our company accountants decided not to show up. As it turned out, they embezzled some money. What struck me the most was that the people who did it were not strangers; they were like mothers and aunts. We saw them almost every day, smile at them, laugh with them, and made plans together. As part of the management team, we ate out and had a friendly good time. It was heartbreaking to realize that the people in the news for some criminal activity had the same profile as those that I had warm and cuddly relations with. But loyalty goes up. My love for God supersedes any other relationship. I feel sad, yes, but I have no inkling to cover for them. If anything, I am upset because I was this close to them, and yet, clueless. My colleagues and I were mixed emotions. On one hand, we felt betrayed. The suspects were like family. We confided in them and planned activities with them in all sincerity and warmth. But maybe, just maybe, they were truthful and sincere...

My Baby Promise: God Will Do This For Me

(Luke 1:25) The Lord has done this for me," she said. "In these days he has shown his favor and taken away my disgrace among the people. (NIV) Dear Lord, You did it for Elizabeth and Zechariah, you can also do it for my wife and I. Show us Your favor, oh Lord, and cause my wife to conceive. Oh my Lord, we don't want to be swayed by public opinion, but even so, the people get to talk about us. They make our childlessness a joke, and it hurts! So Lord, please, just as You helped Elizabeth and Zechariah of old, help us also, today. Please take away this reproach of childlessness. But we won't let this be the motivation of our faith. We focus on your kindness and favor instead. Yes, Lord, I am convinced, knowing Your personality and character, You really want to do this for us! You are so gracious and kind. And people will know that it was You, only You. Not the doctors, not medicine, but You - You will do this for us! Be glorified in giving us this testimony o...

My Baby Promise from Luke 1: God Hears Prayers for a Baby

But the angel reassured him, “Don’t fear, Zachariah. Your prayer has been heard. Elizabeth, your wife, will bear a son by you. You are to name him John. You’re going to leap like a gazelle for joy, and not only you—many will delight in his birth. (Luke 1:13-14 Message) Dear Father, You do not turn me away with my petition for a baby. You hear such kind of requests and You answer them! And because You do, I will not be afraid anymore. My wife will conceive and give birth to our baby – the result of You answering our prayers. This God-given baby will bring us joy and gladness, and as we testify about Your wonderful miraculous deeds, more and more people will rejoice in You, and with us. Hallelujah! Glory be to God! We have something to wait for. Our hopes will never be crushed. Our joy will be complete. We will have a baby, and it’s all because You are good.

My Baby Promise from Job 39: God Knows My Baby's Exact Conception and Birth Date

Do you know when the mountain goats give birth? Do you watch when the doe bears her fawn? Do you count the months till they bear? Do you know the time they give birth? (Job 39:1-2 NIV) Dear Lord, I pray that You hasten the day that we can also know the tentative day and month of our baby’s birth, as You cause my wife to conceive and our baby doctor estimate that wonderful day. Oh Father, if You know all these with animals, then how much more with us, Your children! You alone know when my wife will conceive because You set these things in motion. You watch over my wife, making sure Your Word comes true, all the way to the delivery room. Thank You, Lord! We wait in expectation…

I Am Different, and so are My Gifts

Job 39:13-19 The ostrich flaps her wings futilely— all those beautiful feathers, but useless! She lays her eggs on the hard ground, leaves them there in the dirt, exposed to the weather, Not caring that they might get stepped on and cracked or trampled by some wild animal. She’s negligent with her young, as if they weren’t even hers. She cares nothing about anything. She wasn’t created very smart, that’s for sure, wasn’t given her share of good sense. But when she runs, oh, how she runs, laughing, leaving horse and rider in the dust. (Message) My loving Father is holy, righteous and just in all of His ways. In His manifold wisdom (that's beyond human comprehension!) He decided in eternity past that I'll be with this set of characteristics for a purpose. Could it be that I have wings to somehow classify me among birds? And in this crowd of birds, God opened my eyes to see just how different I am. Can it be possible that the Lord may have classified some as ...

In this day and age, I have to pray

Psalm 141:3-4 Guard my mouth, O Eternal One;      control what I say.      Keep a careful watch on every word I speak. Don’t allow my deepest desires to steer me toward doing what is wrong      or associating with wicked people Or joining in their wicked works      or tasting any of their pleasures.   (Voice) Post a guard at my mouth,  God ,      set a watch at the door of my lips. Don’t let me so much as dream of evil      or thoughtlessly fall into bad company. And these people who only do wrong—      don’t let them lure me with their sweet talk! (Message) LORD, help me control my tongue; help me be careful about what I say. Take away my desire to do evil or to join others in doing wrong. Don't let me eat tasty food with those who do evil. God is working in me

for me to desire and perform His will,  which is my destiny, for His glory. Philippians 2:13 For it is God who is working in you, enabling you both to desire and to work out His good purpose. (HCSB) It is God who produces in you the desires and actions that please him. (GW) God is working in you to make you willing and able to obey him. (CEV) for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose. (NIV) because God is working in you to help you want to do and be able to do what pleases him. (NCV) -=w=- The Holy Spirit is a true gentleman. He first inspires me to do His will, and then He empowers me to accomplish it. What a sweet deal! He does not force himself, He makes me want to do His will! As long as I am doing the will of God, I will always end up victorious. Come hell or high water, I will come out on top for God's glory!  When I persevere to do the will of God, I become unstoppable...

The Goal of Bible Reading

I diligently read the Bible  to know how to come to Jesus. John 5:39-40 You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me,   yet you refuse to come to me to have life. (NIV) Share your burbles here. Image courtesy of Lightstock .
